A gorgeous Golden Retriever puppy heard thunder for the first time, and her reaction to it was just like a human kid.
On May 29, 2024, TikTok user Cali (Taylor's Version) (@cali.therescuegolden) shared a video of Cali experiencing her first thunder and lightning storm. It's really sweet. Take a look!
In a quick 10-second video, we meet Cali , who is out on the rooftop during a rainstorm.

Cali, the Golden Retriever , seems to be having a good time in the rain and doesn't mind getting wet.
But all that changed when a loud boom came from the sky. She looks up and around, trying to figure out the scary sound and where it came from.
When she can't figure it out, you can see the fear go across her eyes briefly before she gets up and runs to her mama, who is holding the camera.
"My puppy's reaction to the first time hearing thunder," the text on the video reads.
"She had the zoomies from the rain and she wouldnt come inside until the thunder and lightning hit," the video's caption explaind. "Now she wont leave my lap."
In the comments, people shared their experiences with their dogs and their reactions to the thunder, and others shared advice.

How to Help Your Dog Who Has Thunderstorm Anxiety
According to the American Kennel Club , it's not unusual for your pup to be afraid of thunderstorms, and the stress they cause can be difficult for the whole family.
They have a few tips that you can try to help soothe your dog during a thunderstorm and get their nerves to relax.
"The best thing you can do for your dog is to let them go to their safe space and not punish them for any behavior during thunderstorms, including destruction and whining," the experts suggest. In these cases, dogs tend to like a small or dark space to relax in during the storm.
Another option would be to add background noise so the thunder isn't as noticeable.
The American Kennel Club suggests Providing background noise to reduce stimulation. Like humans, dogs feel uneasy when they unexpectedly hear a loud sound, and having background noise helps."
