This was a very wise decision. She needs to rest her shoulder now and allow it to heal so that she will be able to compete at Olympic Trials at the end of the month. She can't afford to risk further injury to it at this point, especially since there is no reason to. She competed well at the Core Hydration Classic (the competition prior to this one) and earned more than the necessary points, so there is no reason why her petition should not be approved. She is the best bars worker and has been scoring second to Simone Biles in the all-around. If she is able to continue this at Olympic Trials she will basically be a lock for the Olympic Team.
