    Alamogordo Three Travel Trailers Multiple Vehicles Burned

    Alamogordo, NM Friday, May 31st, 2024, at approximately 17:49 hours on May 30th, 2024, Alamogordo Fire Department was dispatched to the 1200 block of Highway 70 for a travel trailer and debris on fire.

    Due to the location, fast growth, and proximity to multiple buildings, mutual aid from Otero County Emergency Services was initiated.

    The fire was quickly under control by 18:10 hours and a primary search of the trailers was completed and an all clear was given at 18:23 hours.

    The on-scene resources included Engine 5, Engine 1, Tender 5, Alamo West Engine 114, Tender 721, as well as Command Staff & Personnel from AFD, Alamo West Fire, Oro Vista Fire, Boles Acres Fire and Otero County Emergency Services.

    The AFD Fire Investigations Unit was requested to conduct an origin and cause investigation. Alamogordo Code Enforcement Officers were also requested to assist.

    The investigation concluded that the fire was accidental in nature and no injuries were reported. Three travel trailers and multiple vehicles were destroyed by fire.

    No surrounding buildings or neighboring buildings were damaged. All affected occupants were accounted for and, through partnership with American Red Cross, provided with resources for lodging.
