The Chicago Bears need a new stadium... badly. For years, fans muddled in the trenches just navigating to and from Soldier Field resulting in headaches and frustration. The outdated system is in dire need of an upgrade and one of the oldest franchises in the NFL deserves better.

But at what cost does this stadium come? Do taxpayers really have to pony up over $2 billion for the project? Can't the McCaskey family front the cash needed to give Bears fans a home worth calling home?

There are several hurdles to jump for this project to get off the ground. And with Illinois' state legislation not being very friendly to the proposal, the potential for this project is in question.

Chicago Bears Face Challenges for New Stadium

Chicago Bears president Kevin Warren has high aspirations for a new stadium in Chicago. He's voiced concerns with procrastination over this project citing additional costs upwards of $150 million for every year that passes.

There are challenges with development on the Arlington Heights property as well. Costs are higher than initially expected and the Bears switched gears to the lakefront project instead.

But regardless of where the Bears plan to build, there's no easy path.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker stated he's unsure if a new stadium is a high priority, and residents in the state know there are far more pressing issues than a football facility.

The Bears have a small window to get this project off the ground. If Illinois state officials can't come to an agreement by the spring of 2025, the new stadium may be nothing more than a delusion of grandeur.
