    St. Martin Parish roads that are closed, flooded, drivers told to stay off streets

    UPDATE: ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. ( KLFY )– The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is urging people to not travel in certain areas with flooding, as issues are surfacing due to motorists not adhering to road closures.

    Here are the roads that are still flooded/closed, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office:

    • Grandpoint at Grand Anse
    • Grandpoint to Cecilia H.S. Highway
    • Quail Run
      *Underpass at I-10/Henderson
      *Will Angelle
      *Huron
      *Madeline Boulevard

    These are the roads with water that are still passable for cars/trucks. Authorities are advising drivers to pass with caution and only if necessary.

    • Harold Stoute
    • Ches Courville
    • Lelan Road
    • Roman Robin
    • St. Peter Drive
      *Yi Yo Angelle
      *Jim Sells
      *Bin Rogers

    Authorities said homeowners and businesses are being affected by the rising water when extra traffic throws more water into their homes and businesses. Motorists are also advised to pay attention to signs and warnings.

    ORIGINAL: ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. ( KLFY )– There are several streets and roadways throughout St. Martin Parish, especially in the Henderson, Breaux Bridge and Cecilia areas, that are currently flooding due to the excessive rainfall. Some of those roads and streets have been shutdown.

    Our deputies are please asking that you not travel in these areas, and please no sightseers. Secondary situations are occurring due to those not adhering to the road closures and this is causing our deputies to have to assist those who are driving through these areas and getting stuck or stranded. These roads have been closed for the safety of the motorists. The signs and barricades are there to protect you from becoming stranded or placed in a dangerous situation due to rising water. And most importantly, please know that some homeowners and businesses have been affected by the rising water and any additional traffic throws additional water into their homes and businesses.
    Please adhere to the signage and warnings!!!!
    Roads still flooded/closed

    Here are the roadways and streets that are temporarily closed due to high water:

    • Highway 347 to Cecilia
    • Cecilia High School Road
    • Grand Point From Grand Anse to Four Corners
    • Alccide Bonin from Madeline Blvd. to Coteau Rodaire

    The Henderson Police Department urges people to stay off that roadway, and also avoid Highway 352. Old Henderson Road is also inundated with water.

    Law enforcement officials are advising people to stay off the roads because driving on the roadways can create a secondary issue for first responders and homeowners. Motorists are being told to not drive on roadways that are flooded. Drivers are throwing additional water into yards that are at risk of flooding.

    According to the HPD, a wrecker truck got stuck under I-10 and needed to be rescued. Authorities said water should start receding soon if it doesn’t rain, but it is still high.

    DOTD is trying to pump out water and clear the roads under I-10 and Highway 347.

    HPD said the flooding should not be taken lightly because roads are completely covered with water. Drivers should stay off the road until the water is able to drain off and roads can be passable.
