Art in the Park 2024 Gets Summer Off to a Good Start

Today was a beautiful day for people in the community to enjoy Statesville's Art in the Park 2024. It took place at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Saturday.

The event celebrates local artists - and allows people of all ages to enjoy a day of music, visual art, food trucks, and a few little surprises along the way - all in a beautiful outdoor setting.

This year the Mitchell College Art Department had items made by students popping up around the park.

Musicians performed on two stages throughout the event. The show kicked off in the ampitheater with a special version of Roots in the Round. Bryan Olson, with Grassroots entertainment, who created the event said it was the first that had not been held at the old jail. Asheville's Hannah Kaminer hosted the show, which featured Laura Boswell and Dulci Ellenberger (also from the Asheville area) and Statesville's own Karla Causey.

Other performers for the day were Dani Kerr, Isaac Hickerson, za duo from the Cosmic Hillbillys, a duo from the Broad Pickups, Garrett Huffman, and Lochlann Kilburn.
