Twist in Elvis' Graceland sale as 'Nigerian scammer' continues to contact media outlets

The "Nigerian scammer" who has taken credit for a scheme to try to steal Elvis Presley's famous Graceland estate has continued to contact media outlets regarding their failed attempt to auction off the property.

The person has reached out to some of the biggest media organizations in the US in recent days, including CNN and The New York Times.

Last year, a mysterious company named Naussany Investments tried to claim that Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis' late daughter, had borrowed $3.8 million from them and given up the deed to Graceland as security. The company then attempted to auction off the mansion in a foreclosure sale.

Riley Keough, Lisa Marie's daughter and the owner of the estate, filed a lawsuit to block the sale earlier this month which halted the procedures and launched an investigation.

Elvis Presley Enterprises stated that the documents provided by Naussany Investments were "confirmed" to be fraudulent. If the story wasn't bizarre enough, a person emailed The New York Times this week to claim credit for the scam.

In an email associated with an Naussany Investment address written in Luganda, they said: "We figure out how to steal. That’s what we do.

“I had fun figuring this one out and it didn’t succeed very well."

The person claimed to be from Nigeria and said they target victims who are vulnerable, especially in the US.

On Wednesday, CNN got a response from someone claiming to be named Gregory Naussany that said: “We use innocents and we steal identity.

"I didn’t win this one. I’ve stole many identities and received monies, we don’t win all."

The outlet has not been able to confirm whether or not the person is really associated with the case or find any evidence that Naussany Investment exists.

A representative from the Tennessee Attorney General's office said that they are investigating the issue.

"The Tennessee Attorney General’s Office is aware of the email from someone purporting to be Gregory Naussany that says, essentially, that he is a scammer from Nigeria," Amy Lannom Wilhite told The Commercial Appeal.

"We will continue looking into the matter of the failed attempt to foreclose on the iconic Graceland, beloved home of Elvis Presley."
