We all know EXACTLY how this young bear feels, don't we? I'll go out on a limb and say that all of us have a scarring memory of being a kid and walking up to someone who we thought was our mom or dad... only to find out that it's a complete stranger. You've either gone through that and you can remember it like it was yesterday, or you are one of the "lucky ones." This little bear was just trying to show off its freshly caught fish, and instead of getting praised for a successful fishing session, it accidentally incited violence. The issue boiled down to the fact that when the young bear approached the mother bear with its fish, it mistook the sow for its own mom, and that caused some trouble. Just as it approached the bigger bear, who was chowing down on its own fish, the mamma bear turned and went on the attack. The poor, misunderstood bear quickly realized its mistake, dropped the catch it was proudly carrying around, and ran away. Luckily, its actual mom wasn't too far away, and came in to defend her youngling. The mom-misidentification triggered quite the motherly dispute. An all-out-brawl went down right in the middle of the creek between the mother bears as the cubs all safely watched from a distance. It was quite the battle, and fortunately for all of us, we get to be like the baby bears in the footage and witness it from a safe distance (far, far away through our phones). Check it out: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C61tQuSpY74/?igsh=MXRta3o5OXNrOHI4dg== All because one little bear mistook his mom for another bear in the creek. It's a classic mistake, so hopefully the young bear didn't beat himself up about it too much. Everyone that viewed the video on Instagram jumped to the defense of the little guy that was just trying to show off his big fish:
"In his defense, they all look the same." "Little dude tried his best though." "Both moms were standing on business." "Lil guy was just trying to show off his big fish." "The fish downstream telling his buddies, 'And just like that, I got away'" That's true... I didn't even think about that. Those fish were probably counting their blessings after they got away.
