Despite a promising 3-1 lead and another strong start from Garrett Crochet, the Chicago White Sox were unable to maintain their advantage on Saturday. The Milwaukee Brewers sealed the White Sox' 10th consecutive loss with an RBI single from Willy Adames in the 10th inning. Adames had already evened the score at three in the seventh with a two-out, two-run single, setting the stage for the Brewers' walk-off win.

Nevertheless, Crochet remains one of the few bright spots for Chicago in a lost season. He tossed six innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts. In doing so, the big lefty passed the Detroit Tigers’ righty Jack Flaherty for the American League lead in strikeouts . Crochet has completed a quality start in five of his last six games , allowing just four earned runs.

"I'm just throwing the ball well, to be honest," Crochet said. "Outside of the changeup that I threw to (Joey) Ortiz tonight, I felt like I was really dialed in."

    Slipped Away

Andrew Benintendi staked the first-year starter to a 1-0 lead with a homer in the third inning.

Benintendi left the game after the home run due to Achilles tendinitis. Milwaukee got the run back in the bottom half of the inning on a RBI double by Joey Ortiz. The South Siders answered in the fourth with Gavin Sheets' two-run homer off Robert Gasser.

Gasser exited after the fifth, and the Brewers' relief staff surrendered just one hit and issued no free passes to the White Sox over five innings.

Justin Anderson recorded two outs in the seventh before Jordan Leasure relieved him with two men on base. Leasure walked Christian Yelich to load the bases, and Adames delivered the equalizer. Chicago intentionally walked Yelich in the 10th, then he, along with William Contreras, advanced on a wild pitch before Adames' infield single scored the ghost runner.

    News and Notes

Andrew Vaughn missed his second straight game due to a finger sprain suffered on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Andrew Benintendi is likely heading to the injured list, and outfielder Oscar Colas will reportedly take his place on the active roster.
