Avocados, with their vivid green colour, ultra creaminess, and richness, are a versatile fruit that feature in countless recipes - and now this hack to ripen them means you can enjoy them whenever you like.
If you're thinking of making guacamole or topping your toast or sandwich, having a ripe avocado is crucial.
Just as bananas do, avocados continue ripening once they've been picked, explaining why they often feel rock-hard in supermarkets and typically take several days to soften.
Ensuring your avocados are ripe when needed can be challenging, but a ten-minute tip from @freshlysnapped on TikTok could make it simpler, reports the Express .
The video carries the caption: "Nothing like a quick bake sesh in the oven to get that avocado to perfection. Never live with an underripe avocado again."
To demonstrate the hack, the user wrapped an unripe avocado in foil and placed it on a baking tray in the oven.
For optimal results, households should aim for a 200-degree oven setting and allow the avocado to heat for 10 minutes.
Afterwards, the oven-baked avocado was allowed to cool before being easily sliced open.
A glance at the avocado's inside revealed a perfectly soft and appropriately coloured flesh.
Storing avocados in a brown paper bag offers another ripening method. However, this process takes longer - about two to three days.

Like other fruits, avocados emit ethylene while ripening. When kept in a closed brown paper bag, the ethylene gets trapped, concentrating its effects, hence hastening the ripening process.
This method works particularly well if you place the paper bag on a sunny windowsill.
If your avocado is ripe but you're not ready to use it, transfer it from the counter to the fridge. The cooler temperature will help maintain its ripeness for a bit longer.
Whole, ripe avocados can be kept fresh in the fridge drawer for about two to three days.
