Single-Car Collision in West Babylon Leaves SUV Overturned, Driver Rescued

WEST BABYLON, NEW YORK - A driver was rescued from their SUV after it overturned onto its roof in a single-car collision early Saturday evening.

Suffolk County Police and the West Babylon Fire Department responded to a private driveway near the intersection of Route 109 and Old Farmingdale Road in West Babylon at 4:50 PM after a white SUV lost control, crashed, and overturned onto its roof, trapping the driver inside.

Police officers and a West Babylon Fire Chief quickly arrived on scene and freed the driver from the upside-down vehicle.

The driver was transported to a local area hospital in a stable condition following the crash.

Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department's Emergency Service Unit had to drag the vehicle down the private driveway and out onto Old Farmingdale Road to upright it. First responders then used an oil absorbent to manage a small fluid leak from the SUV.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
