Netflix Releases First Clip for Ultraman: Rising

Netflix has released the first clip from its upcoming CGI Ultraman film, and it’s looking really good. The best part is that we won’t have to wait very long to watch it.

The new clip comes courtesy of a post on Twitter from Ultraman: Rising director and writer Shannon Tindle, and lasts for about a minute. The clip shows Ultraman himself taking care of a little baby kaiju – a monster – called Emi.

Ultraman is thrust into a caring, father-like position, and asks his robotic assistant, who has information on every kaiju, to tell him all about the baby. Unfortunately, all the robot can tell him is that the baby is a girl — it has no information about the species of kaiju. Ultraman snaps that he’d be better off asking Siri, and the clip ends, though a lot of heart was packed into that short minute.

Ultraman: Rising is the 44th film in the Ultraman franchise, and it follows Ken Sato, a famous baseball player with the ability to turn into a giant superhero. The film is a co-production between Netflix Animation and Tsuburaya Productions, with animation by Industrial Light & Magic. If that company sounds familiar, that’s because it’s the visual effects company that worked on Star Wars, among many others.

The film was announced back in 2021, and first teased with an image of Ultraman in the following year. The first trailer for it came during Netflix’s Geeked Week , and now it’s almost here. Following a premiere at Annecy International Animation Film Festival next week, Ultraman: Rising will be released on Netflix worldwide on June 14, 2024.
