Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre clinched his first PGA Tour victory by winning the 2024 RBC Canadian Open. This achievement was not only a personal milestone for MacIntyre but also a deeply emotional victory, as he shared this success with his father as his caddy at this weekend's event.

MacIntyre held off strong competition Sunday to secure his victory, finishing his final round shooting 68, surprisingly his worst score of the week. Victor Perez, Tom Kim, and Rory McIlroy all shot up the leaderboard firing off rounds of 64, while Ben Griffin, who finished the 2024 Canadian Open just one stroke shy of MacIntyre, shot an impressive 65.

Following his victory, MacIntyre expressed profound gratitude and pride in having his father by his side during this victory.

“To be honest, it wasn't really the focus. It was more the -- I said it yesterday. He's wanting me to do well just because I'm blood. There's no -- yeah, he's going to get a nice paycheck out of it, and my mom and dad will be mortgage-free now, and life's looking a little bit better on that side of things, but he just wants me to do well because I'm his son, and there's no angles to it, there's nothing. It's just sheer fight for me" MacIntrye said following his final round.

This victory has secured MacIntyre's spot in the next three tournaments, including the U.S. Open, significantly shaping the rest of his season.

"It changes everything. I mean, this is my fifth event in a row as well. I was planning to do U.S. Open qualifier tomorrow, 36 holes with my dad on the bag. Thankfully that's off the cards. You know what? It's just a dream come true and I just can't believe it's happened with him on the bag."
