There’s nothing more refreshing than a delicious bowl of fruit on a hot summer day. Whether you prefer tropical mangoes and pineapples , juicy strawberries , or even a big bowl of frozen grapes (pro tip: douse them in champagne first), it’s impossible to resist the appeal of nature's candy during the year’s hottest season. But once you've picked your bushel of berries, selected the perfect kiwi or chosen the ripest watermelon , cutting and storing them properly is key to enjoying your fruit at its freshest and tastiest.

Unfortunately, cut fruit doesn’t have an incredibly long shelf life. After a few days, the natural sugars start to break down the fruit, causing it to give off juices, which can rapidly degrade the quality of your precious apples and peaches . While that liquid gold might be great for making jellies and jam, allowing your fruit to swim in it for days on end might not be the best idea. A perfect example of this is the brown liquid that pools on top of your legendary cheddar-laced guac .

    Crofton Cut Fruit Bowl

    Aldi

On the bright side, though, Aldi always comes to our rescue, and their latest innovation in fruit storage is one we’ll be using all summer long. The Crofton Cut Fruit Bowl is the perfect solution to keep your fruit fresher for longer—and, you won’t have to worry about fishing cantaloupe out of a puddle of strange liquid before arranging it on your fruit platter. These ingenious fruit bowls feature a plastic strainer insert that allows the juice to drip away from softer fruits, ensuring they're just as delicious today as they were when you cut them two days ago.

Once the juice has collected at the bottom, you can easily pour it off, thanks to spouts on either side of the bowl. And, the multifunction lid serves to lock in freshness while also ensuring no stray slices make their way out while you’re pouring. Additionally, the containers are available in pink or green colorways and come in a set of two 3.5-quart bowls or one 7-quart bowl—which is large enough to hold an entire cut-up watermelon.

As far as price goes, these brilliant containers will only set you back a meager $9.99. Sounds like a small price to pay for fruit salad that lasts longer than a few days, don’t you think?
