Jaire Alexander Compares Jayden Reed To Former Packers WR

As one of the longest-tenured players on the Green Bay Packers, cornerback Jaire Alexander has matched up against a lot of players in practice. The team has always had some talented wide receivers opposite him, with Jayden Reed being one of the recent producers.

A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Michigan State, Jayden Reed made an immediate impact on the team. He built a rapport with Jordan Love early, becoming a reliable receiver out of the slot for the young quarterback to work with.

As a rookie, the Michigan State product led the Packers in receptions, yardage and touchdowns with 64, 794 and 10. When recently speaking about him with reporters, Jaire Alexander made a bold comparison for the young receiver.

“He has full potential,” Alexander said. “He reminds me of a young Randall Cobb.”

Randall Cobb is one of the best wide receivers the Packers have ever had. He is 11th in franchise history in receiving yards, fifth in receptions and 10th in touchdowns; recording 532 for 6,316 yards and 47 touchdowns.

He was a go-to receiver throughout his time with the franchise Aaron Rodgers, and Jaire Alexander believes that Jayden Reed could become that for Love.

“He’s hungry. When you got a young guy coming in who’s hungry for the ball, they’re going to make their plays. And you see it,” Alexander said.

It is easy to see where the comparisons come from. Cobb and Jayden Reed are of similar size, being within one inch tall and five pounds of each other. Despite being under 6 feet tall, they are more than capable of playing a physical brand of football.

Whether it is mixing it up as a blocker in the run game or fighting for extra yardage, they get the job done. Jaire Alexander has seen the greatness Cobb was capable of and believes that Jayden Reed can produce at an even higher level.
