In a move that surprised many but shocked few who know him well, Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre has decided to withdraw from this week's prestigious Memorial Tournament .

This decision comes hot on the heels of his triumphant first PGA Tour victory at the RBC Canadian Open . While many would leap at the opportunity to capitalize on their momentum and play in a Signature Event like the Memorial Tournament, MacIntyre will instead be taking time to celebrate his victory with family and friends back home.

This decision doesn't come from nowhere. Having played in five consecutive events and facing the prospect of a rigorous U.S. Open qualifier, MacIntyre was candid about his feelings of homesickness and fatigue.

"This is my fifth event in a row as well. I was planning to do U.S. Open qualifier tomorrow, 36 holes with my dad on the bag,” MacIntyre stated.

His victory in Canada not only earned him a well-deserved trophy but also gave him the luxury to take his foot off the gas pedal and celebrate.
