At 3:03 PM EDT, a line of strong thunderstorms was detected, stretching from near Carrollton to 8 miles southwest of Kentucky Speedway, and moving northeast at a speed of 15 mph. These storms are capable of producing wind gusts of up to 35 mph and hail up to half an inch in diameter. The radar has confirmed these conditions. The potential impacts of these storms include downed tree limbs and the scattering of unsecured objects due to gusty winds. Minor damage to vegetation may also occur as a result of the hail. The areas that might be affected include Carrollton, Vevay, Warsaw, Florence, and the Kentucky Speedway, as well as Glencoe, Ghent, Sanders, Sparta, Worthville, Braytown, the vicinity of Interstate 71 at Mile Marker 52, Wheatley, Markland, Moorefield, Mount Sterling, Jacksonville, the intersection of US Route 42 and State Route 184, Ethridge, and Eagle Hill. Specifically, this warning includes the stretch of I-71 in Kentucky between mile markers 45 and 61. Those who find themselves outdoors should seek shelter in a robust building. Weather conditions can be reported to the National Weather Service via their website at weather.gov/iln or through social media, but only if it is safe to do so.
