Pondering potential content

In keeping this series going on an almost-weekly basis for about 14 years, I sometimes don’t really know what to write about.

This is one of those weeks when I don’t have a solid idea to expand upon, although I did consider a handful of options.

I thought about delving into the Trump trial mess, but it’s so convoluted and ridiculous that I couldn’t put a finger on how to approach it. Plus, I figured that pretty much everyone already has their mind made up in terms of the current state of presidential absurdity, so there’s no point in beating that dead horse.

I pondered looking at all the madness that’s going on in places like the Middle East and Ukraine, but I don’t believe the mainstream media in the U.S. is presenting much factual, objective information about any of it, so I don’t feel led to pretend I know enough about it. Of course, I’m in a bit of an uncrowded room in that regard, because I think most people have developed strong opinions despite perhaps not being well-informed on the subjects, so maybe I’m just being wimpy.

I wondered if I should share feelings and emotions my wife and I experienced when witnessing the colossal devastation caused by tornados and storms last Saturday near Mountain Home, Ark., as homes were destroyed, metal roofing material was stuck here and there in incredibly unlikely positions, and numerous large trees were literally snapped in half like toothpicks.

But I feel like the true gist of the situation can’t be comprehended by anyone who didn’t actually live through it, so even though it made both of us stunned and amazed, it’s not something I wanted to attempt to describe.

I thought about blasting North Korean dictator Kim Jong Nutcase and how he and his gutter-minded military cronies sent hundreds of big balloons carrying large bags full of trash and excrement into South Korea.

But I honestly don’t want to give that clown even the slightest recognition (and I know that’s what he wants), so leaving that alone seemed appropriate.

I contemplated making fun of the way Iran is angry at China about the Chinese stance on these three islands in the Persian Gulf that both Iran and the United Arab Emirates claim.

But the matter is just so stupid, and I’ll just let those two “allies” work out their little brotherly spat.

I considered bringing up the way so many healthy and either young or relatively young people have “died suddenly” over the past four years or so.

But I believe that’s another subject where many people have their heels dug in and aren’t interested in hearing possible explanations, so I felt like that was a waste of time.

I thought about discussing the inexplicably idiotic and scary situation at the United States’ southern border, where people whose identity is entirely unknown are being allowed to pour in the country with pretty much no security.

But I figured that’s one of those “out of sight, out of mind” deals that most people don’t truly care about, so I didn’t bother.

I also thought about examining voting fraud, abortion laws, scientific experimentation involving monkeys or other animals, Canada’s gruesome Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program, the inevitable impact of robots in society due to the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence, or a number of other controversial or divisive current topics, but I didn’t.

Well, shoot; looks like I won’t have anything to write about this week.
