    Claim:

In June 2024, Walt Disney World announced it would be permanently closing its new, not-yet-open "Tiana's Bayou Adventure" ride.

    Rating:

Labeled Satire ( About this rating? )

On June 3, 2024, Mouse Trap News published an article ( archived ) positing that Walt Disney World was closing "Tiana's Bayou Adventure" ride – inspired by Disney's animated classic "The Princess and the Frog" – before it had even opened to the public, citing negative reviews and "backlash around the retheme." The article began:

BREAKING: Tiana's Bayou Adventure is Closing Permanently

Breaking news, Tiana's Bayou Adventure is closing permanently. This announcement comes only days after the initial Cast Member previews.

The reports from riders are so negative and there is so much backlash around the retheme that Disney is closing the ride permanently. In fact, according to a new poll, 9 out of 10 Disney fans prefer Splash Mountain over Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

That poll is based on people who have actually ridden the new ride. This will be the first-ever Disney ride to have previews and never open to the public. It's clearly an expensive mistake by Disney, however many people saw this coming.

Mouse Trap News also posted the claim on its TikTok account, where it racked up more than 100,600 views and 6,226 likes, as of this writing. "Bruh I was going to try to go on the ride," one commenter wrote.

However, this was not a factual recounting of any real-life events. Mouse Trap News describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature on its "About" page, as follows:

Mouse Trap News is the world's best satire and parody site. We write fake stories about Disney Parks stuff. From Disney Park announcements to Disney Hotel and resort news to made-up Disney partnerships, you can be assured that anything you read here is not true, real, or accurate, but it is fun. So technically our slogan The Moused Trusted Name in Disney News isn't true, but we thought it was creative and funny, so we are running with it.

Mouse Trap News was created on a whim to have some fun and write stories about Disney we wish were true. Some Disney sites write deceptive stories for clicks. We write 100% made-up parody and satire stories for your enjoyment. We also hope that Disney sees how much people like some of our stories and decide to actually make one of our stories a reality!

According to the official Disney World website , "Tiana's Bayou Adventure" was slated to open there on June 28, 2024, and "later this year" at Disneyland.

We've previously debunked other claims originating with Mouse Trap News, such as that Disney was removing Trump from the Hall of Presidents ride , and that Disney was eliminating all waiting lines from its rides.

For background, here is why we sometimes write about satire/humor.
