'I told my friend her baby's name sounds rude - now she's not speaking to me'

Some baby names can be quite contentious. It's generally best to keep your opinions to yourself when it comes to a friend or family member's choice of name, even if you don't like it. Unsolicited advice is rarely welcomed and could lead to a fallout.
Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. If someone is considering naming their child something universally offensive, like Hitler or Satan, then it's probably a good idea to speak up. But if it's simply a matter of personal taste, it's wise to hold your tongue.
Baffled that no one else seemed to have noticed or mentioned it, she felt compelled to alert her friend to the unfortunate implications of the name. Seeking guidance on how to approach the subject, she turned to social media for help.
She wrote: "I'm so sorry but my friend really named her baby Annally. WHO IS GOING TO TELL HER - SHE ALREADY WENT THROUGH WITH IT. It's been months and everyone in her life thought it was pretty. It's a combination of mother's names... I didn't want to be a jerk and over the phone, it sounded like Anna Lee", reports the Mirror .
After receiving advice on how to handle the awkwardly named child, she later updated: "The other day I told you all about my friend's daughter being named Annally. A lot of you thought I should tell her and I thought I could try to beat around the bush... so I texted her today to ask how she and Annually were doing."
"She called me a few minutes ago because she was doing dishes and laughed at my misspelling. I told her that I felt bad but my phone also keeps auto-correcting it to 'other things'. She asked what other things, so I said it. She laughed and said, "Anally? That's not even a word, why would it do that? Or is that another spelling?
"Y'all. I gently explained that it was indeed a word. She hung up, I'm kinda freaking out but I'm glad she did because after that reply I didn't have any words."
People reading the Reddit post were in stitches and demanded another update on what happened next in their friendship and to poor Annally. One person joked: "You should have this conversation annually until she changes it. That poor child."

Another user added: "Poor thing. She's probably rethinking all of her life choices, just looked up how long they have to change the name after birth-apparently, most states allow you to for 6-12 months without a court order! Hopefully soon-to-be Anna Leigh will thank you."
Another person chimed in, saying: "You did the right thing in trying to spare her child from a lifetime of humiliation and graphic jokes, even if she is upset. Honestly, I think you chose a very diplomatic way to address it."
