As one of the largest cat breeds, Maine Coons really aren't messing around! Though they're very fluffy, sweet felines, they're also quite big — and depending on who's holding them, it can be very funny to see how they measure up to the humans in our lives! When a child (or even a short adult like me) holds one, they might appear to be huge , spanning more than half of a human's size, which definitely isn't typical of many domestic breeds. If you're in the market for a big cat who is really going to bring the cuddles, this might just be the type you're looking for.
But even Maine Coons can look a bit smaller when they're being held by a tall person who really puts their size into perspective. Case in point: what's going on in this TikTok video that has people scratching their heads.
One breeder, @wildmane_mainecoons , frequently shares her journey breeding Maine Coon cats and raising her own, and given how big her babies can be, of course, her 103k followers love to see videos of her holding them and showing just how long they can be when they're stretched out.
But in this video, she explained that people are always curious about her height (5'5"), since her cats look so huge when she holds them, so she decided to show a side-by-side comparison of her cats in her arms vs. when her husband, who is 6'3", holds them. When he holds them, it looks like they magically shrink!
They even held their dog for good measure at the end — not exactly what the people were asking for, but I'm certainly not going to complain. What a cutie!
"They look like normal sized cats with him," one person wrote. It's true... it's wild how that happens!

This breeder's name is Zhana, and she lives in Sacramento with her cats. According to the Wild Mane Cattery website, she wasn't a cat person until her son begged her for one, and then, she fell in love.
"Our cats and kittens are raised in a home with 2 kids and a dog so you can be sure your kitten will be well socialized once you bring him/her home," Zhana wrote. "Our cats absolutely adore our kids and spend their evenings cuddling with them as our children go to bed for the night. They are each raised as a loved and cherished family member."
