One of the reasons Costco is so popular is because it has great quality and consistency. Unfortunately, even the retail giant isn't immune to recalls.

Costco gives consumers the best deals on bulk products, but if you have recently purchased cheese from them, you may have gotten more than you wanted. According to a notice from the wholesaler's corporate office, a popular cheese brand that is sold in its stores is being recalled because it could be contaminated.

What We Know About This Costco Recall

The recall notice was sent to Costco members on June 1 and it revealed that customers who purchased the Tillamook Colby Jack and Tillamook Monterey Jack combo pack of cheese slices between May 9 and May 31, 2024 should take a closer look at the packaging.

This product is being voluntarily recalled due to the potential presence of gray and black plastic pieces. The item in question bears the item number 651195 and it has a "Best If Used By" date of October 22, 2024. It is presented in a 32-ounce twin-pack and was produced for Costco locations only in the Northwest region.

The affected items have been removed from shelves, but Tillamook and Costco have raised concerns that customers could still have them in their possession. If you have one of these packages, the companies are saying you should not eat it. Instead, return the product to your local Costco for a full refund.

If you have already consumed the cheese, no action needs to be taken, as "the likely presence of the foreign plastic material is very minimal," according to the recall.

For any questions or concerns regarding the product, you can contact Tillamook directly at hello@tillamook.com or via phone at 855-562-3568.

    Other Recalls Happening Right Now

Currently, there is a recall on cucumbers that may contain salmonella. They were distributed to 14 states.

A widespread salmonella outbreak has led to dozens of product recalls, including ones for candy-coated products and various cheese products. Backyard chickens were also linked to an outbreak of the bacteria that sickened more than 100 people.

A recall has also been issued for ground beef and other beef products . It affects more than 20, 000 pounds of meat that was distributed to four states. It may be contaminated with E.coli.

This recall comes a month after Walmart recalled more than 16, 000 pounds of ground beef for the same reason.
