Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) made the incredible claim that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “doesn’t want Ukraine” on Steve Bannon’s War Room Wednesday, exclaiming that Putin already has “enough land” to be satisfied.

Bannon elicited the answer when he asked Tuberville if there was “any logical way, when they talk about this peace conference all that, that the Russians are gonna give up Donbas and the eastern-speaking Russian provinces of Crimea or things that they feel that they fought for and control those territories? Because [Volodymyr] Zelensky and these guys said we can’t even have a meeting or can’t even really go forward to a peace conference if that’s on the table from Russia.”

“Well, it’s obvious, number one, that the Biden administration have zero diplomacy skills. There should have been a summit with Vladimir Putin, you know, right after this thing started,” replied Tuberville.

    He continued:

They had a done deal, we all know that, but we talked them, “Hey, we’ll give you whatever it takes we’re gonna give you, you’re gonna be able to fight these Russians and knock ’em back.”

How many clips have you seen of a battle in Ukraine? Zero in the last 6, 7, 8 months? It’s one-sided. Putin’s just kind of sitting back watching what’s going on, wondering, “hey, when y’all going to come over and we’ll, we’ll draw a line here.” He doesn’t want Ukraine. He doesn’t want Europe. Hell, he’s got enough land of his own. He just wants to make sure that he does not have United States weapons in Ukraine pointing at Moscow.

“Yeah, a couple thousand moving a thousand miles east,” agreed Bannon.

When Putin invaded Ukraine in February 2022, he was explicit about his desire to absorb Ukrainian territory.

“First of all, I would like to reiterate that Ukraine is just not our neighboring country. It’s an integral part of our history, culture, and spiritual space,” said Putin shortly before launching his unprovoked attack on his western neightbor. “Why did we have to transfer the rights to the territories which have been historically part of the Russian empire and they’ve received even statues of the national territorial units why? Why again, I am asking you? Why did we have to be so generous?”
