Greenville County residents could be voting on a "sales and use" tax hike in November.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Greenville County's Capital Project Sales Tax Commission presented a resolution to County Council that would impose a 1% "sales and use" tax to fund specific capital improvement projects, such as roads, to be include on the November ballot.

That increase would be enacted May 1, 2025 and for a period of 8 years, until April 30, 2033.

Should the question appear on the ballot in November and residents vote yes, the more than $1 billion collected from the tax increase would go towards repairing nearly 1,500 roads and bridges in Greenville County.

The resolution has yet to be approved. County Council's next meeting is scheduled for June 18th.
