An $8 million stone mansion with 18,000-square-feet of living space, an expansive estate on more than 24 farm-assessed acres and a rowhouse-style home in a historic neighborhood were among the priciest properties to sell in North Jersey in May.

And, while housing inventory remained relatively consistent in North Jersey last month, median home prices saw yet another increase. So, we can likely expect to see the price tag on some of North Jersey's most elaborate homes to continue to grow, too.

Here's a look at the priciest homes sold in each North Jersey county in May:

    Bergen County

    24 Cambridge Way, Alpine — $8 million

Officially selling for $8 million on May 16, 24 Cambridge Way in Alpine was the most expensive single-family property to sell in all of North Jersey last month. Listed by Christine LaBarbiera of Christie's International Real Estate Group in Edgewater and bought with Rosemarie Campi of Prominent Properties Sotheby's International Realty in Alpine, the home had been relisted and underwent price reductions multiple times for several years before selling in May.

LaBarbiera said the seller of the home worked with LaBarbiera Custom Homes, which she said has built more than 105 luxury homes in Bergen County. The seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom stone mansion sits on a two-acre lot and offers about 18,000-square-feet of living space.

In addition to an elevator that reaches all four floors of the home, the property features a movie theater, a home library, a gym, a massage room, a great room with a wine bar and guest suite, as well as a billiard room with a bar and guest suite. There is also a garage with room for up to 12 cars, a large outdoor entertainment area with a fireplace, pool and spa, and a media system and security cameras throughout the home.

    Passaic County

    34 Bourbon St., Wayne — $1.55 million

While technically the second most expensive property to sell in Passaic County in May — the first being 100 Woods Road in Little Falls, which was purchased for $1.7 million on May 9 by Montclair State University, according to Passaic County deed records — the sale of 34 Bourbon St. in Wayne was the priciest transaction last month that followed the typical real estate process. Both listed by and bought with Tony Nabhan of Keller Williams City Views Realty in Fort Lee, this home officially sold on May 6 for $1.55 million.

Originally built in 1990, the five-bedroom, four-bathroom Colonial home boasts 3,961-square-feet of living space and sits on a 0.45-acre lot. The home features a formal living room with French doors leading to the home's family room, completed with built-in shelves and a fireplace, as well as a formal dining room with coffered ceilings and an eat-in kitchen with quartz countertops and a center island. And there is wood detailing, such as wood floors and wood beams, throughout the property.

    Morris County

105 Mosle Road, Mendham Township — $3.795 million

Referred to as Twin Magnolia Manor, 105 Mosle Road in Mendham Township officially sold for $3.795 million on May 16. The home was listed by Robert Sameth Jr. of Turpin Realtors in Mendham and bought with Antonio Ferreira of Harrison Realty in Harrison.

Initially built in 2001, this six-bedroom, seven-bathroom Colonial estate is surrounded by more than 24 farm-assessed acres. The home also underwent a fairly recent renovation and was redesigned by Linda Kessler of Far Hills-based Linda Kessler Designs.

There is also a formal dining room, a kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a center island, a wet bar and a home office with coffered ceilings, cherry wood detailing and a fireplace. Outside, there are two paver patio spaces overlooking the home's spacious property. Here, there is also an outdoor brick fireplace, a heated pool complex with a jetted spa, an outdoor kitchen and a four-season pool house with a kitchen, full bathroom and a roof deck.

    Essex County

The six-bedroom, five-bathroom Colonial home was originally built in 1965, boasting 4,623-square-feet of living space on a 0.49-acre lot.
