    Raleigh County Commission provides statement on passing of Commission President Dave Tolliver

    BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — On Monday, June 3, 2024, Raleigh County Commission President Dave Tolliver passed away.

    He was 76.

    Since then many West Virginia leaders and organizations have sent their condolences to Tolliver’s family, while speaking highly on the legacy Tolliver left. The most recent statement to come out is from the very organization he led as Commission President, the Raleigh County Commission.

    The Raleigh County Commission is deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved President, Dave Tolliver. Dave was a dedicated public servant who served the citizens of Raleigh County with unwavering commitment and integrity. His passion for his work and his dedication to improving the lives of others were truly inspiring.

    Dave was a strong advocate for economic development, job creation, and water and sewer infrastructure improvements. He was instrumental in bringing new businesses to Raleigh County and creating opportunities for our residents. He also worked tirelessly to improve Raleigh County Parks, making Raleigh County a more attractive place to live and work.

    Dave was a man of faith and a loving family man. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. Dave was also a loyal friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

    We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dave’s wife, Pat, his children Tammi and Kevin, his, grandchildren, and the entire Tolliver family. Dave’s legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, and his contributions to Raleigh County will never be forgotten.

    May he rest in peace.

    Raleigh County Commission

    Dave Tolliver, who had been re-elected president of the Raleigh County Commission in January, grew up without water in Wyoming County, giving him a life long appreciation for public water service. Tolliver moved to Raleigh County in the early 1970’s to make his home. He and his wife, Pat Tolliver, have two children, Tammi and Kevin, and four grandchildren.

    Tolliver was also a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army 101 First Airborne Division. He also served as a firefighter at Beckley Fire Department for nearly 29 years and worked as a bus driver for the Raleigh County Board of Education for around a decade.

    Mr. Tolliver’s services are scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Raleigh County Convention Center. ‘Receiving of friends’ is from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and services will follow. Pastor George Wood will be officiating. Instead of flowers, people are requested to consider making a donation to Brian`s Safehouse.

    Private condolences may be directed to the family through the Rose and Quesenberry guestbook . Arrangements are by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, 1901 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV.
