It turns out that Andy Cohen has feelings, too. You probably wouldn’t know it based on how he effortlessly navigates the messiest of conversations every night on TV. However, he recently revealed that Bethenny Frankel’s “reality reckoning” actually took a toll on him.

After Bethenny declared an all-out war on reality TV, the floodgates opened for criticism, lawsuits, and allegations aimed at Bravo, Andy, and the producers behind Real Housewives . Allegedly, that started to weigh pretty heavily on the Bravo head honcho.

Wrecked by the reality reckoning

Initially, Bethenny raised some legitimate labor concerns. Her main criticism was that she felt underpaid during her tenure on Real Housewives of New York . She complained that the network earned “millions and millions” but she never received any residuals for her work. She wanted reality stars to unionize so they could advocate for better treatment behind the scenes.

Within a few weeks, the reckoning started to lose focus. She recruited other disgruntled Bravo stars like Rachel Leviss and NeNe Leakes to try to drum up criticism against the franchises that built their careers. Although Bethenny claimed that she wasn’t putting a target on Andy or Bravo specifically, it certainly seemed that way.

Today, the dust has mostly settled from the reality reckoning, and in a lengthy interview with Vulture , Andy opened up about how the whole situation impacted his psyche. Rather than calling it a “reality reckoning,” he called it a “sustained attack” that left him feeling hurt.

“There was a lot of noise. And I was definitely sad about it,” Andy confessed.

Fortunately for Andy, Bethenny has completely abandoned her mission of toppling the reality TV industry. Instead, she has shifted her focus to complaining about customer service and teaching her followers the art of divorce . He can rest easy knowing that Bethenny is off his case.
