    2024-06-06

The Class of 2024 seniors from Park Center High School are set to walk in their graduation commencement ceremony at Mariucci Arena on the University of Minnesota campus on Sunday, June 9.

What’s your favorite experience from high school?

My favorite experience from high school would be any event I attended for an activity. If I had to pick one specifically, it would be the robotics competition at Maple Grove High School during the 2022-23 season when my team won two awards. It was a very welcomed surprise and a lot of fun celebrating our accomplishments with my team.

What advice would you give for new high school students?

I advise all new high school students to get involved with your school. I know high school can be boring and rough and tedious, but trust me when I tell you that just getting involved with your school can make it so much better. I recommend joining a club, activity or team just because those are great opportunities to meet friends, but if that seems like too much then just staying involved in class is enough. Some of the activities teachers make you do can be annoying, but they will help you learn and give you something to do in school. The more you try to not do school, the more difficult being in school is going to be for you.

What are your plans for after graduation?

My plans after graduation are to go to the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities as a computer science major.

What excites you the most about graduating?

What excites me the most after graduating is the mystery of it. High school is pretty much a set schedule that is fairly easy to predict, but in my mind life after it is not as predictable. I could probably tell you basic things that will probably happen like I’ll start working more, or I’m going to college, but most of it seems wild and uncertain. That is what excites me, though. I’m excited to see where life takes me and what challenges are thrown at me. Will I miss the comfort of high school? Maybe, but if you never leave what’s fine, you can’t enjoy what could be amazing.

What’s your favorite experience from high school?

I truly have too many fun experiences from high school to pick just one, but if I had to choose one that stood out to me it would be the Model United Nations conference that we hold for AP Human Geography. Being a chair multiple times for this conference taught me what being a leader means and getting to connect with freshmen as a upperclassmen.

What advice would you give for new high school students?

One piece of advice that has stuck with me and motivated me throughout high school is “YOLO; You Only Live Once.” Instead of being afraid of change and shy of opportunities, learn to overcome the fear. You only have one life, so don’t leave the world with regrets.

What are your plans for after graduation?

I plan to get my bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Pennsylvania. My dream goal is to work in the FBI, in hopes of making a meaningful impact in the world. I want to bring a diversified perspective into this workforce and continue to make our world a safer, better place.

What excites you the most about graduating?

I am most excited about the new adventures that come my way. This is the true beginning of adulthood, really branching out and meeting new people every single day. I am looking forward to the new experiences that college may bring me, especially moving halfway across the country.

What’s your favorite experience from high school?

One of my favorite experiences from high school was back in freshmen year when I was able to participate in a seminar about food dissertations. I was able to share my opinion and was to justify my reasoning. This is my favorite experience because I could use my voice to create new perspectives and different ways to look into an idea. This has been part of me through high school, where I have learned to use my voice and hold myself accountable for speaking to have a change in this ever-changing world.

What advice would you give for new high school students?

As advice for upcoming high school students, it is important to stay determined and organized. Know what your goal is after the four years of college, whether that is to graduate or go to college. After learning that, work on creating a plan for getting there. It can be challenging to stay up to the task or anything that works for you and is not against you.

What are your plans for after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to attend the College of Saint Benedict, where I will major in nursing. I plan to be a helpful resource in the medical field.

What excites you the most about graduating?

I am most excited that I have successfully completed my four years of high school, and now I am looking forward to the new phase of my life, which will be college. This new phase might feel scary, but I look forward to the new experiences and perspectives that I will explore. Furthermore, I look forward to the opportunity of getting a higher education, which is a privilege that many students around the world don’t have the chance to acquire.
