Graduating from high school is one of the proudest moments in one’s life, a moment for the grad and his or her family to remember forever.

Two recent graduates from El Paso, Texas wanted to create a memory during their high school graduation ceremonies that they and their classmates would never forget.

And as you can see in the videos below posted on the Instagram account Fitfam El Paso, mission accomplished.

Viral Splats Leave Internet Wincing

After receiving his diploma and a handshake from the school district Superintendent, Del Valle High School graduate Jorge Facio took a few steps and, all of a sudden, leaped backwards into the air.

It did not end well.

The over-enthusiastic grad failed to stick the landing, faceplanting instead and scraping his nose and forehead. To the young man’s credit, he got up immediately and stumbled back to his seat to the cheers, groans and amusement of the astonished crowd in attendance.

Facio survived the badly executed stunt with his face and sense of humor (mostly) intact, posing later for a thumbs-up selfie shared on Fitfam El Paso.

Later that same evening on the same stage at the Don Haskins Center, Ralph Sanchez also attempted the same post-diploma celebration in full graduation regalia at his commencement ceremony.

Only he upped the stakes by doing a backflip off the stage.

Video of the Bel Air High School graduate's gravity defying backward somersault was also posted on Fitfam, and like Facio's backflip, it did not go as planned either.

Graduation ceremonies are long and boring affairs, so props to Facio and Sanchez for making an otherwise excruciatingly dull ceremony a bit more fun and definitely much more memorable. The internet thanks you.
