‘Embarrassing is an Understatement…’ Fox’s Jeanine Pirro Falls for Fake Attack on Biden Sitting ‘In an Imaginary Chair’

As a former Judge, Jeanine Pirro is expected to offer wise and measured legal and political analysis to Fox News, the network that employs her.

Unfortunately, that judgment was not on full display Thursday afternoon when she fell for a fake clip posted by the Republican party that purported to show President Joe Biden looking to sit down in a chair that was not there to show how Biden is “not home” or mentally deficient and can not serve as commander in chief. The thing is, however, the clip, as presented , was not at all similar — in fuller context — to what actually transpired.

    As Tommy Christopher reported earlier:

An official Republican account posted a misleading clip featuring a deceptive edit to attack President Joe Biden as he commemorated D-Day with the last surviving veterans of the attack. The real video tells a different story.

President Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and others spoke at an event commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France that was attended by around 200 surviving veterans of that invasion — men who turned the tide of World War II against Adolf Hitler’s Axis powers.

The Rebublican Party’s official RNC Research X/Twitter account marked the occasion by posting a short clip depicting the president beginning to sit down, with the caption “ Awkward” with a cringe emoji.

The clip racked up over a million views and was shared by Republicans who suggested the president was “out of it” or trying to “sit in an imaginary chair.”

But the actual video of the event shows that in that same clip, milliseconds later, the president did sit in a very real chair after pausing a few seconds to wait for Secretary Austin’s introduction to be completed, which you can see here .

Anyone familiar with the basics of post-production knows that its very easy to mislead a viewer with an unfair edit designed to confuse,  which was clearly the case here. But Pirro does not seem to possess the critical thinking skills to properly ascertain this fake clip as an obviously unfair attack. In fact, she’s just naive enough to amplify it via social media with commentary completely lacking in any self-awareness.

“THIS is the man representing us. THIS is how we are being perceived as a nation. Our commander-and-chief trying to sit in an imaginary chair on stage in front of the entire world,” Pirro posted on X.  “Lights on, but Biden’s not home. Embarrassing is an understatement….THERE IS NO CHAIR ”

To quote Pirro, “Embarrassing is an understatement,” indeed.

UPDATE: Pirro has deleted the incorrect social media post since it first came to Mediaite’s attention.
