Knewz.com has learned that the Yemen -backed militant organization has been engaging in a disinformation campaign using "fake footage."
Houthis claimed to have destroyed the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier. By: MEGA
Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, announced an attack on the aircraft carrier towards the end of May.
By the first week of June, several social media outlets started sharing fake videos of the USS Eisenhower up in flames, claiming that the destruction was the result of a Houthi missile strike.
However, Chinese satellite images shared by the military information outlet Defence Blog showed the USS Eisenhower still deployed at the Red Sea, with the outlet noting that the pictures do not show any damage or any indication that the aircraft carrier was recently under attack.
Satellite images shared on the Chinese social media platform Weibo also showed the perfectly unharmed warship sailing north in the Red Sea.

The internet was quick to debunk the disinformation campaign being carried out on social media about the fake attack as well.
For instance, a user going by the name "Historical Archives" on X, formerly known as Twitter , posted a video of a huge vessel with smoke billowing out as "evidence" for the destruction of the warship.
"American aircraft carrier has been dealt an irreparable blow in the Red Sea by the Houthis (Ansar Allah). The aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower was struck in a precision strike by Dozen Anti Ship Ballistic missile! Which led major fire," the user wrote.
However, another user pointed out that the video actually showed USS Bonhome Richard , which caught fire during its deployment in San Diego back in 2020.

Another user posted a video of the "attack," showing several missiles strike the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, causing major explosions onboard. The post soon saw a reply from an open-source intelligence analyst who pointed out that the "footage" came from a video game called Arma III .
On the other hand, Captain Chris "Chowdah" Hill, the commanding officer of the USS Eisenhower , posted images of him making rounds at the warship's bakery section while the aircraft carrier was supposed to be critically damaged.
Netizens found this extremely amusing, as one posted on X: "Straight up chuckling at the increasingly unhinged “Houthis have hit USS Eisenhower” posts complete with doctored images of various carriers with fake battle damage while @ChowdahHill joyfully posts through it all."
Another user pointed out that the USS Eisenhower may have set a new record, as "the USS Enterprise earned the nickname "The Grey Ghost" after the Japanese declared her sunk on three different occasions during World War 2 ."

Captain Hill jokingly replied to the tweet, saying, "I think we were sunk only twice this year."
The United States Navy also did its part to refute the Houthi claims, as a spokesperson told CBS News that the warship is still deployed at the U.S. Central Command region.
"The sailors and the ship are ready and postured to respond to any contingency at a moment's notice... We are committed to protecting freedom of navigation and commerce in the region alongside our partners and allies," the Navy spokesperson added.
