Entergy Texas is looking to build two new natural gas power plants in Southeast Texas to meet the significant rise in energy demand.

In an application filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas, Entergy is seeking to build the 754-megawatt Legend Power Station and the 453-megawatt Lone Star Power Station.

“The Legend and Lone Star Power Stations will address the critical need for increased power generation capacity, support increased economic activity throughout the region, and pave the way for sustainable energy solutions that will benefit Southeast Texas for decades to come,” Eliecer Viamontes, president and CEO of Entergy Texas, said. “These future-forward projects are projected to save customers approximately $370 million over the lifespan of the plants.”

The $1.46 billion Legend Power Station will be a combined cycle combustion turbine facility that will be located in Port Arthur. This project will be carbon capture-enabled and feature a hydrogen-capable combustion turbine. Upon completion, the facility will produce enough energy to power nearly 190,000 homes.

The $753 million Lone Star Power Station will also be a combustion turbine facility that will be located near Cleveland, Texas. Once operational, it will provide enough efficient and affordable energy to power over 110,000 homes.

These facilities are expected to be in service by 2028 and will bring a total of $2.8 billion in economic benefits to the region.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas will consider approval of these proposals in the coming months.

I worked at AT&t distributed in Roanoke Texas and we had pallet jacks and battery operated forklifts, when you go down there to unplug the batteries to get a new battery on a forklift or pallet jack, it stunk so bad and the batteries leaking constantly.. I know they say the new batteries don't put the big batteries do.. I was breathing so much battery acid, I had to quit that place..

Take down the solar farms and turn it back to agriculture. tear down the climate unfriendly wind turbines and see no more birds species go extinct or clutter up our natural rural landscapes
