Even after many years of marriage, some spouses still learn new things about their partner, but the news that one man discovered about his wife, the mother of his two children, is something not he, nor anyone, would ever expect - that she is his sister.

It might seem like something out of a soap opera but as unlikely as it is, it happened in part because the man, who was adopted at birth, never found out any details about his biological parents. When his wife of six years needed a kidney transplant, he of course got tested to find out if he would be a viable donor. Explaining in a post on Reddit, the man stated that he learned he was indeed a match, but that the doctor needed to do additional testing because of, what the medic called "some information from the HLA (human leukocyte antigen) tissue results." In response, the man said, "I didn't think much of it and agreed."

When the results came back, he learned that he and his wife had an "abnormally high match percentage." Normally this might be good news for someone in need of a kidney transplant, but the doctor explained how rare it is for a couple to have this high a match, and that it is very likely that the two are related, and probably siblings.

The man turned to commenters on the post for help on what he should do in his very unique situation. One replied, "You already have kids and they are assumedly healthy since you didn't mention any crazy abnormalities. If you're happy, you're happy. Donate the kidney to your sister-wife and continue being great parents to your children." Another wrote, "I mean at this point you are married with children already - you can't take that back so I don't see much point in blowing worlds up," while someone else said, "Everything's been great this long, no point changing it."

No word on what the man has decided to do but you can see more of the comments on the post on Reddit.
