    County sales tax revenue strong in May, report shows

    Texas County sales tax revenue was up in May compared to last year, according to a Missouri Department of Revenue report for 2024.

    Merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes. Each totaled $121,080 for May, which represented an increase of $4,219 on each from the same period a year ago.

    The sales tax on out-of-state sales totaled $95,152.36 for the month. That was up $40,272.36 from the same month in 2023. Sales tax on out-of-state sales is up $186,708.46 through the first five months of the year, compared to 2023.

    Revenue from a three-eighths sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $84,112.79, which was up $5,011.99 for the month.
