Spotsylvania County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A 23-year-old Spotsylvania County woman accused of murdering her three roommates was arrested Thursday in New York following a police chase that reportedly reached 100 mph.

Alyssa Jane Venable was taken into custody in Steuben County, New York, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service and the New York State Police on Thursday, June 6, according to a press release from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers said they tried to perform a traffic stop of a 2009 Honda Civic, which Venable was known to drive. However, Venable refused to stop and a pursuit began. Venable eventually crashed the Civic and was then arrested without incident and taken to a nearby hospital. She remains at the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

She will be held at the Steuben County Jail pending her extradition back to Virginia.

Earlier this week, officers attempted to perform a welfare check in the 10500 block of White Street. Deputies arrived to find three victims dead inside the apartment, all with upper body trauma.

Venable is accused of the murders of 77-year-old Robert John McGuire, 60-year-old Gregory Scott Powell and 65-year-old Carol Anne Reese. She faces three counts of second-degree murder and one count of using a firearm while committing a felony.
