Valle Nevado, Chile to Open for Daily Skiing Weeks Ahead of Schedule

Valle Nevado, Chile, opened for daily operations two weeks ahead of schedule today, June 7th, due to an early-season storm that dumped four feet of snow in the Chilean Tres Valles region.

The ski resort already hosted a three-day pre-season between May 31st and June 2nd.

During this wintry tease, Valle Nevado saw over 3,000 visitors, which, according to a press release from the resort, set "high expectations" for the coming ski season. Valle Nevado's general manager, Ricardo Margulis, anticipates around 300,000 total season visitors in 2024—that's about 50,000 more than the previous winter.

Margulis called the early-season conditions at Valle Nevado "excellent."

Valle Nevado's hotel offerings, which host mostly international visitors, aren’t quite ready for prime time. The Valle Nevado Hotel opens on June 28th, and the Puerta del Sol and Tres Puntas hotels open on June 21st.

In a recent, widely publicized acquisition , Durango, Colorado based Mountain Capital Partners purchased Valle Nevado's neighboring ski resort, La Parva. MCP already owns a majority stake in Valle Nevado, making the La Parva acquisition its second foray into the international resort market.

The La Parva MCP purchase spells good news for North American skiers. MCP's Power Pass—a mega pass that includes access to ski resorts under the MCP banner—now includes seven interconnected days at La Parva and Valle Nevado. These days provide access to both resorts within a single day.

La Parva opened for the season alongside Valle Nevado today.

Thanks to several connections, skiing back and forth between the two resorts is easy, giving Power Pass holders access to a combined 7,000 skiable acres, 30 lifts, and 80 trails. Details on access to both ski resorts with local ticket and pass products are still being ironed out, given the recency of the La Parva MCP acquisition.

Valle Nevado is scheduled to remain open until October 6th.
