They say it takes a village to raise a child, and there's no question that kids benefit from having plenty of loving grown-ups around. Of course, moms are also super lucky to have helpful family and friends around who care about their kids...and oftentimes, those people are aunts and uncles.

In one recent video, an adorable baby girl proves just how important aunts really can be to little ones with a highly emotional display. Apparently, the baby's mom won't "let her stay up late to play with auntie" — and the poor thing is completely devastated!

"The heartbreak! The drama!" wrote Quack Mcfly.

"GIVE HER BACK RIGHT NOW," wrote Erin Rose.

    "How dare she!" wrote ShowRunner.

At least this aunt knows her niece loves her! They can go back to bonding once she gets a good night's sleep.

Why Aunts Play an Important Role in Kids' Lives

"The aunt is one of the few people who knows a child from birth," according to Bright Side. As a result, aunts often participate in children's upbringing in meaningful ways.

"Aunties, grannies, and grandpas are always ready to take care of the children in their lives, but the aunt has more endurance than the grandparents. This allows her to respond to the moods and whims of the child less emotionally."

Aunts also act as friends to kids, serving as sounding boards in ways that parents can't.

"The fact that she is not the child’s parent allows her to communicate with them on an equal footing and to find a common language while still remaining an authority in the eyes of the child...Since children are sometimes afraid of how parents might react to this or that news, it’s easier for them to talk about their problems with another person. And at this moment, it’s the aunt’s turn to impartially listen to the child, without anger, disappointment, or accusation. Afterward, she will be able to give valuable advice based on her rich life experience, provide support, and help the child deal with problematic situations."

As the baby in this video grows up, she'll always be able to turn to her aunt for support!
