Jenna Bush Hager And Hoda Kotb Bicker On ‘Today’ After Kotb Asks A Risky Question About Bush Hager’s Marriage

Jenna Bush Hager quickly shut down her Today co-host Hoda Kotb after Kotb shockingly asked if she’s ever had “chemistry” with someone other than her husband.

The pair were discussing Naomi Watts’ recent interview, in which the actress looked back on an embarrassing audition where she had to make out with her potential co-star.

Bush Hager was struck by how odd it must be for actors to do intimate scenes like this. “Wouldn’t it be weird to have chemistry with somebody and be married to somebody else?” she asked.

Kotb disagreed. “No,” she quickly replied. As Bush Hager tried to explain her point, Kotb cut her off to ask, “Pause, pause, pause, have you never had chemistry with somebody other than your husband?”

But Bush Hager was not falling for that trap. “Don’t try and get me in The Daily Mail , Hoda Kotb,” she replied. “Every Friday you try to drop me in just in time for me to go home to my husband who reads a headline that says, ‘Jenna has chemistry with other people.’ Not falling into that trap, not today!”

Kotb defended her point, replying, “I’m just saying you’re human! … Everybody does! Everyone has chemistry.”

Despite their bickering, the conversation returned back to how “weird” it must be for actors.

“Here’s what I’m saying, [it’s a] very strange job where you have to have chemistry and you’re making out, with people watching which is also odd, and you can’t…,” Bush Hager began explaining.

Kotb added, “And you’re going back home to your husband and wife and saying it’s just ‘work.'”

After they finally appeared to be in agreement, Bush Hager accused Kotb of “fighting” with her. “You were also trying to get me into The Daily Mail cycle,” she said. “You were trying to feed the beast and I’m keeping that beast hungry until next week.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Bush Hager has made headlines for her comments about her marriage. In 2023, the Today host made a joke about having an affair during the live broadcast, which she immediately walked back in regret.

While speaking to Kotb, she admitted that she finds it attractive when men wear glasses and read in public, but that’s not all. “I mean, if they’re reading something I respect, that could be grounds for an affair,” she said. She then turned to the camera and clarified, “I’m just kidding, I would never do that. I would never. Henry and I are very happy. And he reads.”

After Kotb questioned why she was getting “defensive,” Bush Hager admitted, “Because I shouldn’t have said that, I went too far.”
