IKEA's Gorgeous Rug Drop Is Sending Customers Into a Frenzy

I don't know where you've been shopping for your area rugs lately, but you should definitely add IKEA to your list of places to check out. They may not typically be known for their rugs but after you see this new drop, you're going to want to grab one, ASAP.

I know, it seems like everywhere we look there's a new product drop from IKEA. We struggle to keep up with their ever-growing inventory! But this rug already has raving reviews so obviously we had to talk about it.

TikTok user Mel from @melmadespace was stopped dead in her tracks when she saw this new release from IKEA hanging in her local store. It was not what she was looking for but it became everything she needed.

Mel is used to reusing classic IKEA designs for various home purposes as well as showing her followers basic interior design tips like how to pair pillows and how to layer linens. She's even done an IKEA rug series before on her page where she rated her top four rugs from IKEA, showing exactly why she had fallen in love with them.

This rug however quickly took her number one spot.

Enter: the IKEA BANKKONTOR

What is the BANKKONTOR , you might ask? It is a handmade beige rug, stretching 5 foot 7 inches wide and 7 foot 10 inches long. It's not just any beige rug.

Its main attraction is its unique high pile design, which is when the fibers of a rug are long like a shag carpet. But along with the high pile, the BANKKONTOR mixes low pile, creating this fascinating textured look that Mel could not be more obsessed with.

At $349.99, the BANKKONTOR might seem like one of IKEA's more pricey pieces, but for a rug this size, the IKEA customer is actually getting a great deal.

Some viewers commented on how this carpet might be tricky to maintain.

"This would be a pain to vacuum but it's so cute," commented @islandbeaudee. "I think this would be cool as a wall covering," suggested @nowhatido as a way to keep the piece from getting dirty.
