Eric Braeden, 83, of 'The Young and the Restless' Cuts a Suave Figure at Daytime Emmys

Eric Braeden , who has brought the character of Victor Newman to life on The Young and the Restless since 1980, arrived at the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards looking suave and classy.

The 83-year-old soap opera actor donned a classic sharp black suit with a matching black bowtie, black shoes and a light gray or silver pocket square. Given that it was the first time Braeden attended the Daytime Emmys in years, fans were excited to see the actor dressed to the nines for the event.

"Handsome as always," one fan wrote on X , formerly Twitter, as another called him "The king."

Along with his role as a presenter at the 51st Daytime Emmys, Braeden earned a nomination for his performance as Victor on his popular soap opera, his first in 20 years. Between 1987 and 2004, he was nominated in the Lead Actor category eight times, taking home the award in 1998.

The soap actor spoke with the Michael Fairman Channel about the exciting nomination, telling the publication, "You can’t help but feel very good about it...It felt wonderful, no question. I even sent the nominating announcement to my brothers in German. I’m very happy about it, very proud of it, you know."

Braeden explained that he "had not submitted any stuff for more than 10 years, because I didn’t believe in the voting process," explaining that he disagreed with the Daytime Emmys' policy.

"I’d complained for years about the voting system, and it was based on pure laziness as far as I’m concerned. There are 150,000 registered actors in Hollywood. You can’t tell me that you can vote only from within your company," he went on, acknowledging that after the system changed, he decided to submit a reel again.

Braeden was nominated for a 2024 Daytime Emmy alongside Thorsten Kaye , John McCook , Scott Clifton and Eric Martsolf .
