• Dr. David and Pam Black are the coordinators for the annual Hot Air Balloon Rally and Glow, which is held the first weekend of the Dairy Festival. Community members and visitors are welcomed from about 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday (June 7-8, 2024) to the annual balloon event to bring lawn chairs and watch a few dozen balloons lift up and glow each night in the field behind Shannon Oaks Church.

Hopkins County Dairy Festival Board and 2024 pageant contestants gathered Friday at noon around 2023 Dairy Festival Queen Caroline Prickette, who had the honor of cutting the ribbon officially signalling the start of the 2024 Hopkins County Dairy Festival.

Local media were given an opportunity to participate in an early morning flight. Only one balloon lifted off, but the others were tethered with candidates and media able to enjoy a tethered flight at Sulphur Springs Middle School.
