ROKU has revealed numerous little-known ways that owners of the streaming device can adjust the sound when watching media.

When watching TV shows and movies on the device, you are able to explore a wide range of sounds if you know how to access them.

For someone who knows how to properly use the different volume modes offered on your Roku streaming device, the company says they can easily use the remote to upgrade their listening experience.

There are various audio settings you can adjust so that you can hear your TV show, game, movie or even music perfectly.

Roku devices have a "Night Mode" that owners may find appealing for reducing sounds - particularly good for movie-watching.

Night Mode lessens the volume level for louder scenes.

The setting also boosts sound for quieter noises allowing Roku users to watch what they want on their device late-night TV without disturbing others.

Roku further explained that when Night Mode is on, the volume of sounds of a whispering level is increased.

At the same time, the volume of loud sounds like explosions is decreased to keep an average low intensity.

Roku also shared that users can switch their devices to "Automatic Volume Leveling" for more consistent audio levels.

This setting works to hear a more leveled sound across various types of entertainment.

The leveling option enables a consistent or even volume for a user even as they change between different types of entertainment.

So the "Automatic Volume Leveling" is a good audio setting to use when you want to make the sound less harsh when a commercial comes on or when you're switching channels.

With that setting activated, users don't have to change the volume levels every time they switch channels or a commercial comes on.

Those two audio modes adjust your volume automatically depending on the sounds being made but there are other more simple volume levels Roku users can take advantage of and may not know it as well.

Of course, you can have your volume off which makes all audio modes inactive.

The Roku Channel – what you need to know

    Here's the lowdown...

The Roku Channel is a streaming app that's available on a range of devices.

It offers more than 400 live TV channels.

And it promises over 80,000 movies and TV shows on an on-demand basis.

Roku says that the app is available on:

    • Roku streaming devices
    • Compatible Samsung Smart TVs
    • Compatible AMazon Fire TV devices
    • TheRokuChannel.com website
    • Roku mobile apps (iOS and Android)

Roku notes that the app is only available in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. It's also available in Mexico, but only on Roku devices.

Having the volume on your Roku off leaves content volume unmodified.

Roku informed its users that some volume modes aren't available for all audio formats.

That means that when you're using volume modes, movies, and TV shows that you stream with certain surround sound formats, they may be automatically converted to stereo.

If your Roku device is connected to an audio/video receiver (AVR) or soundbar, the company advises may need to set volume modes to off.

Setting the volume off allows you to hear the surround sound mode on your connected external audio device like a soundbar.
