On May 31, Yung Gravy, the American rapper himself posted a tik tok featuring the one and only Shania Twain with the caption, "We got somethin' cookin' for ya'll... stay tuned." Even with an unexpected hint like that, fans were not ready for what they are calling the 'Gravy Twain.'

On June 6, we saw another social media post announcing the release of the Shania Twain and Yung Gravy collab song titled, "White Claw." The immediate feedback was quite humorous, and really not taken too seriously. Fans of both Twain and Gravy still anticipated the release but really, with no expectations. Those fans, well they were less than impressed.

The internet immediately did what it does, and when the song was released on June 7, the comment sections went rampant. Both artists have seen extreme backlash and hate with some even saying that Shania has 'straight embarrassed herself with such as song.' One fan commented, "I don't know man, this doesn't seem right," while another wrote, "This is a misfire of epic proportion. Please just stop."

Though a large majority of the criticism is extremely negative, there are some fans enjoying the unique new song. On Instagram, one comment read, "This collab wasn't on my 2024 bingo card but I dig it."

The collaboration may seem unlikely but that alone was not what shocked fans the most. The content of this song seemed simply not worth singing about regardless of the artist. Sure, alcohol has long been a key theme in country music, but White Claws specifically?

In a song review column published by OutKick, the author stated, "Yes, Shania Twain on a song about White Claws, I wish I was making this up, but I'm not. Not only is the song about the most basic drink on the planet for sorority girls, but it's downright brutally bad." Later on in the article he says, "Why did she reduce herself to singing about White Claw? It's not even a good drink. They taste horrible. If you're going to sing about alcohol, at least pick a good one."

    Who is Yung Gravy?

As fans of country music, you are most likely familiar with Shania Twain. Back in 1997, she released arguably one of the most well known lyrical songs of all time, "Man, I Feel Like A Woman." She reigns as one of the best selling female country singers of all time.

But what about Gravy? Who is he?

The singer, songwriter, and actor has made himself increasingly popular the last few years through social media, and specifically Tik Tok. He is best described as a 'meme rapper,' and is known for comical and frivolous lyrics and music. He has contributed some of the most used sounds and songs on the app; his song, "Mr. Clean," one of the best.

The 26-year-old may have gotten his big break fairly recently, but while he was in college he hit fame on a platform called SoundCloud. He has been well known as a rapper, but recently he is showing some interest and ability in different genres too.

    Gravy gone Country?

Some are suggesting that Yung Gravy is following Post Malone through the genre shift into country music. Whether or not Posty has anything to do with it, there is no doubt we are seeing Gravy threaded into the country music realms recently. In early May, Yung Gravy announced that his country-rap album, 'Serving Country,' would release sometime this summer. This announcement came very shortly before we were seeing clues of Shania being in the mix.

Possibly appraising Zac Brown Bands hit, "Chicken Fried," Yung released his first country crossover with his song, 'Clementine," in May. The rest of the album is expected to drop anytime now, but has not been officially announced.

We are seeing a multitude of artists join the country crossover. Post Malone, Shaboozey , and Beyonce, to name a few. Within, there is also a continuation of unusual and interesting collabs like this, but it is sure to catch fans eyes and ears, good or bad.
