On June 6, the 80th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy, France, President Joe Biden talked about democracy and assured the world of America’s commitment to the free countries of Europe. Much of the media happily lapped it up. In truth, Biden offered a crock pot of progressive propaganda.

Biden tried to emulate Ronald Reagan with his address but just as Dan Quayle was no Jack Kennedy , Biden is no Reagan. Biden talks about democracy but he and his Administration do not practice democracy. The public does not want Biden to run for reelection. The people know that Biden is too old. But Biden ignores the fundamental tenet of democracy, the will of the people.

Reagan believed in free market capitalism. Biden does not. Biden wants the economic system of the United States, which has delivered unprecedented wealth to all, to be transformed into a command economy, where the federal government controls more and more resources. Biden’s goal is to dictate price decisions at the nation’s supermarkets. Biden says the country’s food stores, which carry, in one convenient location, everything from eggs, produce, and meat to diapers, cosmetics, and medications, are greedy price gougers.

The reality is different. Supermarkets operate on razor-thin margins, typically 2-3%, hardly an example of profiteering. So also does Biden desire to control the country’s motor vehicle industry. Through his most recent mileage regulation, 65 miles per gallon by 2031, he is compelling the Detroit 3 to produce and sell more electric vehicles when the public prefers internal combustion engine vehicles.

Ford loses $132,000 per electric vehicle sold. $132,000. Which begs a question: is Biden’s goal to bankrupt Ford and have the government seize the company? Is Biden a closet socialist?

Then there's the law. Biden professes to believe in the American system of government, a separation of powers and checks and balances among the 3 branches of government. But Biden repeatedly tramples on decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court, the final arbiter of the law. Biden cheers the legal system when it conducts a political show trial involving Donald Trump in New York City . He ignores the Supreme Court on student loans, the ‘major questions’ doctrine as pertaining to immigration, and on environmental issues.

The purpose of the U.S. is liberty.

However, as the Biden administration expands the power of the federal government into all aspects of our economic system, our liberty is denied. The purest form of democracy is the free market, where each individual, through his or her consumption decisions, exercises liberty. Biden would constrain that liberty of the free market. He would dictate what cars we purchase. He would dictate what foods we consume. Above all, when Biden implicitly compares himself to Reagan on defending democracy, he is a hypocrite. Reagan gave the nation’s military the resources to win the Cold War and to bring down that wall that divided Berlin between liberty and despotism.

Biden starves the military of the necessary resources to deter China , Russia, Iran, as well as Islamic terror which is gaining power across the Sahel region of Africa. Unlike Reagan, Biden believes in appeasement. He appeases Putin and the leaders of Iran. He is even wary of confronting an enemy on our doorstep, Venezuela.

Biden is no Reagan. He is no democrat. He does not believe in liberty. Biden is a progressive authoritarian who believes that a few progressive policy elites know how we, the people, should lead our lives.
