Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back in Bad Boys : Ride or Die , and audiences apparently could not be more over the moon as it had a giant opening weekend at the box office, making it one of the most successful films at the summer box office so far.
When the film debuted on Rotten Tomatoes, it landed a 71% rating from critics, which was just a smidge lower than the 76% earned by Bad Boys for Life , the 2020 addition to the franchise.
Now that score has slipped slightly to a — still fresh — rating of 63%, but audiences are lapping up the latest romp from Smith and Lawrence, rating it at 97%.

Not only are they paying in compliments, but with their dollars as the film raked in an unexpected $104.6 million at the worldwide box office over its opening weekend.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die's budget was reportedly $100 million, meaning it has already scraped back its budget and then some in just a few days.
Domestically, the film made $56 million, with a further $48.6 million coming from international ticket sales.
In 2020, Bad Boys for Life made $426.5 million at the box office, so it should surprise no one that Bad Boys: Ride or Die is following suit.
Will Smith was part of the action this weekend as he was spotted on TikTok visiting a local CineMark to sit with the fans and watch the film.
TikTok user @norbertoncn posted a video of Smith leaving the movie theater, casually saying to the crowd, "Hey, I'm glad you all enjoyed that". Immediately, the theater erupted in cheers for Smith, who was then swamped by fans.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die follows famous Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, but this time there's a twist: they're on the run.
