Ghostbusters 3.75-Inch O-Ring Figures Now up for Preorder
By Luke Y. Thompson,

It only took 40 years, but the Ghostbusters action figures we deserved in 1984 have finally arrived. Made in the style of 1984 G.I. Joe figures, with the O-ring torso and leg construction, and of course, swivel-arm battle grip, Hasbro’s latest versions of Venkman, Stantz, Spengler, and Zeddemore also fit in their recent 1:18 scale Ecto-1 . They’ll also fit in vintage collection Star Wars stuff if you really want them too. Perhaps the Mos Eisley Cantina could use a spiritual cleansing? Or maybe G.I. Joe needs help with Cobra conjuring the supernatural.

It doesn’t seem like we’ll ever actually get a 1:12 scale movie-styled Ecto-1, unless Mezco makes something ridiculously expensive. Mattel tried to crowdfund one that never happened, and while there will be another Ghostbusters HasLab this year, those have typically been 1:1 prop replicas rather than figure-based toys. However, if the 3.75-inch figures catch on, we could see a lot more characters in that more affordable scale. Heck, maybe a fire house isn’t out of the question at that size?
The set of four figures, which runs around $45 — a little over $11 per figure — includes four proton packs, one PKE meter, and ecto-goggles. Though the figures share parts, they aren’t 100% copies of each other — note Peter’s pant legs untucked from his boots. Now, how big does a Stay-Puft marshmallow man have to be to fit the scale? Probably still so prohibitively big that Hasbro would cheat a little bit. A rooftop playset with just his giant head might be nifty, though.
If the heads of the figures pop off easily, there’s lots of custom potential here, too. Let your favorite Jedi or Joe join the Ghost Corps with a proper jumpsuit. We’d love to hear what Samuel L. Jackson would have to say about those [expletive] ghosts in his [expletive] city.
