Races for federal and state offices have taken shape after the filing window for those offices closed on Tuesday, setting most ballot matchups for the November election. The highest profile race that will require a primary will be the race for U.S. Senator, as Democratic incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar faces multiple challengers from both sides.

On the Republican side, candidates who have filed to run for senator include Loner Blue, Raymond D. Petersen, Christopher Seymour Sr., Patrick D. Munro, John Berman, Alycia R. Gruenhagen, Joe Fraser and Royce White. The Minnesota GOP endorsed White at the Minnesota Republican Convention in March.

Democrats looking to unseat the three-term incumbent include Steve Carlson, George H. Kalberer, Ahmad R. Hassan, and Ole Savior.

The Minnesota Primary Election is slated for Aug. 13.

In the Third Congressional District, Republican Tad Jude and Democrat Kelly Morrison will vie for the seat currently held by Democrat Dean Phillips. Phillips opted to not seat re-election to mount an unsuccessful bid to challenge President Joe Biden. Morrison is a current state senator representing Senate District 45. Jude is a former candidate for Minnesota Attorney General.

In the race for the Sixth Congressional District, incumbent Republican Tom Emmer will face Republican Chris Corey in the Aug. 13 primary; while Democrats Austin D. Winkelman and Jeanne Hendricks face off to decide the ballot for November.

Voters in Carver County and the west metro will see a number of legislative races this year.

In District 17B, incumbent Republican Bobbie Harder and DFLer Jennifer Nuesse will face-off in November. District 17B includes New Germany, Norwood Young America and Watertown.

In District 37A, incumbent Republican Kristin Robbins will face DFL candidate Laurie Wolfe. District 37A includes Maple Plain and Independence.

In District 45A, which includes much of the West Lakes area, Republican incumbent Andrew Myers is being challenged by DFLer Tracey Breazeale.

District 48A will see a rematch of 2022 between incumbent Republican Jim Nash and DFLer Nathan Kells. District 48A includes the cities of Waconia and Cologne.

In neighboring District 48B, which includes Chanhassen and Chaska, Republican Caleb Steffenhagen is challenging incumbent Democrat Lucy Rehm.

In Carver County, a pair each of commissioner and soil and water supervisor positions are on the ballot this year.

The seat for District 1 commissioner, currently held by Gayle Degler, has a trio of candidates. Lisa Anderson, Greg Boe and Bala Chintaginjala will face off in the August primary. The outcome of the primary will determine the November ballot.

Incumbent District 3 commissioner Matt Udermann is being challenged by John Peter Mihajlov and Gary Van Eyll in the August primary.

Incumbent Soil and Water District 2 supervisor Marcus Zbinden is running unopposed; while William Clayton and Mike Lynch are vying for the District 4 supervisor post.

The window to file for city, township and school district offices will open on July 30 and run through Aug. 13.

The 2024 general election is slated for Nov. 5.
