A mother of four who went missing was tragically found inside a 2 0ft python after villagers sliced open the creature's belly. Farida, aged 50 from Indonesia, disappeared while trekking through the forest on her way to a local market in Kalimpong town to sell food.

Her concerned husband, Noni, aged 55, along with other villagers, started an urgent search when she didn't return in the evening. Their worst fears were confirmed when they came across an engorged snake concealed in the underbrush, prompting them to inspect it further. The search party had to cut open the massive snake with a machete, and they shockingly found the mother's body on June 6.

It's suspected that the python bit her leg before engulfing her entirely. Locals suspect she was suffocated and also noticed a bite wound on her limb. Farida's lifeless form was extracted from the serpent to allow for a proper religious funeral in the Pitu Riawa district of Sidrap Regency, reports the Mirror US .

Noni expressed his deep regret, saying: "I am forever sorry that I let my wife go out alone. If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her," and added, "I feel sorry for the suffering she went through. I am sorry for our family."

Although there have been several past incidents of python attacks in Indonesia, this is said to be the first occurrence in Kalempang, as reported by Daily Star. Village chief Suardi Rosi cautioned: "We have warned everybody to be careful when they walk through the woods. Women should be accompanied by someone."

In 2022, 54-year-old Jahrah disappeared after going to a rubber plantation in Jambi province. Locals were horrified to find her body inside a massive python two days later.

Similarly, in 2018, another tragic incident occurred when 54 year old mother of two Wa Tiba was killed by a snake. After she vanished, her sandals and machete were found near a large python, prompting local Ayu Kartika to comment: "Everybody was crying, everybody was shocked. The poor woman. This is like a horror movie. People are terrified. We are scared to go outside. We can only pray for safety."

Muna district Indonesian National Police superintendent Agung Ramos detailed the events surrounding Wa Tiba's death, saying: "Children and residents had been looking for Wa after she did not return home. Some items belonging to victim, sandals, a machete, and flashlights, were found but the victim was not there."

He continued: "The family then reported this to the police and the search reached its conclusion at 9 am. Residents found a python that looked like it was unable to move. Residents then suspected the snake swallowed Wa Tiba. People took the snake into the village and started splitting it open. The suspicions were true, and there was a body intact inside the snake. Unfortunately, the victim was lifeless."
