The Cheapest Places to Live in New Jersey in 2024

    2024-06-10

A newly released list of the most affordable communities in New Jersey has been released from the online database known as HomeSnacks.

The website combines recent data from the Census, FBI, OpenStreetMaps, and dozens of other sources to create bite-sized lists and studies designed to help citizens better understand what it is like to live in different communities across the country.

They used data from AreaVibes and BestPlaces.net to determine each town’s affordability and created a list of cities and towns that are considered the most affordable in the state of New Jersey.

The results have been revealed and it seems like communities from southern NJ dominated the list.

But what city topped the list? According to HomeSnacks, Bridgeton is the most affordable coastal community in NJ.

Other New Jersey communities that made the list following Bridgeton were:

    1. Crestwood Village
    2. Camden
    3. Millville
    4. Leisure Village
    5. Trenton
    6. Gloucester City
    7. Paulsboro
    8. Salem
    9. Vineland

As you would assume, the trick to finding the most affordable places in NJ are to get as far from NYC as possible. Hence, why Bridgeton is listed as number one. This small town is located in southwestern NJ just before Delaware.

The town boasts an average home price of $221,011 and an average rent of $1,246.
