There's a reason why so many children's TV shows and movies have musical numbers in them...because kids love singing and dancing! But if you're looking to keep your little one entertained, you don't have to stick with kid-specific fare — in fact, you might find that your own personal favorites are just as popular with your tot.

In an adorable video posted on June 8, a toddler boy is watching Grease on TV, and it's clear he's watched the classic movie a few (dozen?) times before. In fact, he's got John Travolta's moves pretty much memorized!

"When he jumped up and started the legs I died!!!" wrote Maureenmerz.

"As an original Grease lover of over 45 years...this is beyond fantastic. You are raising him right!" wrote amyk0016.

"This is such good entertainment. The leg shake is priceless," wrote sassyone.

And another generation of Grease fans is born! According to experts, there are plenty of good reasons why so many people love movie musicals.

Why Kids (and Grown-Ups) Love Musicals

It's no mystery why musicals (whether on the stage or screen) have so many devoted fans . As social psychology professor Dr Elle Boag told The Independent, musicals make people feel good .

“And who doesn’t want to feel good? From a psychological perspective, anything that makes you feel good, unless it’s illegal, usually does you good. We are a species that has a lot of barriers to feeling good. We have a lot of responsibilities, sometimes we feel the world is unfair, things will happen to us that make us sad. So, anything that can lift that, and alleviate that sense of despair, is a good thing."

Musicals can also help people to connect with their emotions , which is particularly valuable for kids, who are still learning about the way feelings work.

"The format may be fun and whimsical, but their stories still deal with the harsh and hard realities of the human experience. There’s heartache, tragedy, grief and striving. Cruelty, poverty, injustice. It would be easy to think giving these things the musical treatment might somehow water them down – but that would be missing the magic. There’s something in expressing emotion through song and dance that’s uniquely powerful. A catchy chorus or stomping, swinging dance number enables us to bring a feeling to life in a way that just connects."

Whether it's Frozen or Grease , the end result is essentially the same...just ask the boy in this video!
